To my sons with love.... // Jessica Salort Photography // Navarre Beach
Dedicated to all moms with little boys, especially mine Mathew and Jacob.
It wasn’t too long ago you were at the hospital welcoming him into the world.
You patiently waited for his arrival all day.
He shot out like thunder arriving in glory.
Taking this world by storm and taking you for the most beautiful adventure of your life.
You sat at that moment, thinking I never want to forget this moment.
This time and place with him.
So you closed your eyes and memorized it.
Then you opened your eyes and here he was before you.
He is a big boy now as he reminds you daily.
He has your brown eyes.
Your heart.
Your sense of adventure and curiosity.
You beam with pride because he is yours.
You have created a beautiful being.
He is perfect in every way.
He needs you, but you need him more.
He is all you ever had in this world.
This little boy gave you life.
But with all this happiness comes a sense of sadness because, in just a few short years, he will be all grown up.
Would he still look for your late-night snuggles?
Or be too big to hold your hand.
Would saying I love you in front of friends be a thing of the past?
So you tell yourself again I never want to forget this moment as you watch his splash around in the water chasing birds.
The sunlight catches his face in all the right spots.
He looks like an angel.
Once again you close your eyes to memorize this moment hoping it stays with you forever.
And as you breathe in that salty air.
A small hand grabs you from behind.
It's him.
He will spend his life looking for you.
You are the keeper of his memories.
His world starts and ends with you.
He will always be your perfect son.
Your sweet little boy.
He will always need you as you need him.
