The beach for many is healing. Myself included. Some people go there to celebrate specials days and others to find peace. 

This day we found both.

This amazing couple celebrated 50 years of beautiful marriage on our gorgeous beaches surrounded by their family, which included their sons plus their families. 

One person was missing, though. 

Someone extraordinary. 

Many years ago, this couple faced a tragedy when they lost their 18-year-old son to a drunk driver.

And though the time and seasons change, month to month, year to year. 

He's with them always. 

Soon after his passing butterflies started to appear during special holidays and family events bringing joy and comfort.

The look on the family's face when we walked onto the beach when they saw the butterfly kite flying high in the sky.

Tears filled his mom's eyes.

 He was there.

 He was celebrating too.

The owners of the kite were kind enough to allow us to use their kite for a little bit after we shared their heartwarming story.

After meeting the Wicks Family, I was moved so deeply. 

I came home and wrote this in memory of their lost son.

My son.

My Butterfly.

I love you to the big blue sea.

Through the mountains and over the trees.

Across the prairies and rivers deep.

I carry you with me.

I look for you in my dreams hoping to see your sweet smile once again.

In daylight, dusk and darkness I find you.

Dancing with rainbows in the evening sky.

Fluttering so free and so high.

You can be anywhere at any time.

But you know you belong to me.

To forever and Infinity.

The days might pass and years too long.

I miss you.

I love you.

I'll never stop looking for you.

So fly my boy.
